The following are some pictures I took of the “Rally for Rails 2″ in Downtown Kitchener, where people of Waterloo Region held a rally to express their support for Light Rail Transit to Regional Council ahead of the June 15th vote. Many thanks to the people of TriTAG (Tri-Cities Transportation Action Group) and Wonderful Waterloo for putting this rally on.
@TriTAG doing last minute setup.
@biggianthead stuck me with this sign, which I was proud to hold.
@biggianthead (Tim Mollison) of @TriTAG warming up the crowd.
I’m afraid I don’t know this gentleman’s name, but he was from www.wonderfulwaterloo.com (@WonderfulWat).
John Milloy (john_milloy), MPP for Kitchener-Centre.
Hillary Abel from RQ Magazine (also known as @angrycelery)
Kate Daley then spoke to the crowd (@thedaleykate).
Daisy Arsenault (@DaisyArsenault) and her family spoke about the impact of LRT on families.
@AYDaring spoke from the perspective of a student.

Hey Cameron, can you provide captions for these pictures? I wasn’t at the rally, and don’t know who these people are…

Hi Bob,
Good point! I updated them as best as I could, but Twitter names sometimes had to suffice! If anyone knows the person’s proper name, let me know!
Thanks,
Cameron

I personally think it’s a wonderful idea that the City should move forward with the Idea with the LRT it will make everyone’s transportation more easier to get around the City and a lot less hassle for everyone to get to point A to point B I hope the City does give the go ahead on the proposed ideas on the LRT here’s hoping that the regional council will vote wisely for the right actions

Hi Joseph,
Thanks for your comment! I think you’re right – it will do wonders for transportation! Just today I was on Highway 8, looking at an iXpress bus stuck in traffic. Even transportation to Cambridge will get better with aBRT, where the busses can bypass slow traffic on the highway. Now THAT will be motivation to get on GRT!
It all comes down to Wednesday! If you haven’t let your councillors know how you feel, it’s not too late! Visit http://www.tritag.ca where you can send a letter to your councillors letting them know that you support LRT.
